I have often seen sometimes the error “Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.” arises when you try to play any file from a Disc or any other source. The best player (even described in Microsoft Recommendations) is undoubtedly VLC. When you have such error, you are left with 2 options:
- Go and Get a new player
- Update the Codec
The first option is for people who don’t wanna panic. Go, download VLC or such player and play the file – simple as that. I shall list out the Top Media Players of all time sequentially, as: VLC Media Player, Media Monkey, Winamp, PowerDVD, WinDVD, and the list goes on. But there are some times when even they don’t work! We can not install every player and check if it is working or not. So, here is the second option of updating the Codec Pack!
All you need to update a Codec Pack is just download a Codec Pack instead of the media players! A single codec pack will let you run everything on a Media player without need to install any other media player. Click on the link given below and get the latest version (or any other version you like) of “K-Lite Codec Pack”, install on your system and yes, view anything now!
